Partnerships Ensure Sustainability
SPLASHForward is partnering with the City of Bellevue, the Bellevue School District, King County, our Eastside regional partners Kirkland and Redmond, and our community to bring a public comprehensive operationally sustainable regional aquatics center to Bellevue serving Eastside residents and satellite facilities to the region.
We are helping our partners envision and inform the needs and facility requirements to enable Bellevue to become a regional aquatics leader and support our regional aquatics partners to realize their facility needs.
Regional Aquatics Group
King County Parks has facilitated the efforts of the Regional Aquatics Group comprised of the City of Bellevue, City of Kirkland, and the City of Redmond. The group has met regularly over the past three years.
SPLASHForward has shared our work with the group and our Best In Class facility research was published in the November 2019 Regional Aquatics Group’s report.
Aquatics Consultant - Isaac Sports Group
SPLASHForward hired the nationally recognized aquatics consultant, Isaac Sports Group (ISG), to perform an in-depth regional analysis to make the case for private partnerships and operational sustainability.
We are building a current and detailed model of our local aquatics needs. Our work complements, enhances, and strengthens the City and Regional government resources by bringing together key stakeholders, engaging the public and building the foundation for private partnerships.
ISG’s expertise and experience spans 24 different states, a full range of public-private partnership models, and over 30 years of experience operating a major Aquatics Facility (UMinn) and providing operational facility management leadership nationwide. They understand the business side of aquatics to apply best practices and provide creative solutions for sustainable operationally efficient facilities. Unlike most aquatics’ consultants, ISG is involved from dream stage all the way through the operation of the facility ensuring operating models forecasted play out.

As a three-time Olympian, Gold and Silver medalist, former world record-holder, and a twelve-year member of the US National Swim Team, I have seen and swum in a lot of pools built all over the US and around the world. Some of these pools and complexes were built with a long-term vision to serve a broad spectrum of aquatic activities and needs, while others felt more like a pool in a box with little foresight and a very narrow scope of who they would serve.
To build a world class aquatics complex that meets the long-term needs of the community, is functional for all abilities, and will be financially sustainable for years to come, an experienced consulting firm must be engaged to make the vision a reality.
