Meet Piper Enge
Piper was born to be in the water. Her first years were spent in Redondo Beach, California, playing in the ocean and a backyard pool with her three siblings. At age 9, she moved to Mercer Island, WA, and joined the Bellevue Club Swim Team (BCST). Since then, she has found much success in the pool competing for BCST, Mercer Island High School, and Team USA.
In the Fall of 2024, she will continue her swimming career at the University of Texas – Austin.
Piper is a 3-time Washington High School State Champion in the 100 yard breaststroke and 200 yard IM, and the WIAA State record holder in the 100 yard breaststroke (58.95) and 200 yard IM (1:58.13). Nationally in the 17-18 age group, she is the 3rd all-time fastest in the 50 meter breaststroke (30.53) and the 9th all-time fastest in the 100 meter breaststroke (1:07.27).

Piper’s Vision for Greater Access & Inclusion
by Piper Enge
The biggest opportunities in my life all stem from access to pools and swimming. I am incredibly fortunate that a swimming scholarship to my dream college will allow me to better myself as a student, athlete, and person. Swimming also has given me the honor of competing for Team USA around the world, and it is beyond meaningful for me to represent my hometown and country on the global stage.
Thanks to the platform that swimming has given me, I’m able to give back to my community through lifeguarding, teaching stroke clinics, inspiring young swimmers, and advocating for increased access to aquatics through my partnership with SPLASHForward.

I hope that everyone in our community has the chance to develop a love for the water.
I wish for all kids, families, adults, seniors, and those with special needs to have the same access to aquatic opportunities that I’ve had, no matter their age or ability. Everyone should have access to water, not only for safety or competition, but simply for the happiness and connection it can bring.

Inclusion is vitally important to me because it means that everyone is welcome. It is about recognizing that diversity is a strength and that by embracing our differences, we can create a stronger community.
Everyone deserves a place where they can feel respected, supported, and celebrated for who they are. As a queer swimmer, pools have been a safe space for me where my worth is measured by my dedication, skill, and sportsmanship beyond anything else. By being open and authentic about my identity, I hope to inspire others to feel confident and empowered to pursue their dreams, and to know that they belong anywhere they want to be.
Inclusion isn't just about tolerance; it's about actively promoting and celebrating diversity in all its forms. It's about ensuring that every individual has the opportunity to thrive and succeed in the pool and beyond.
